Larry D. Ouellette, 80, of Washington, died Nov. 9, 2020, at the Washington County Hospital.

He was born to Roland and Edna (Girard) Ouellette on Aug. 14, 1940, at St. Joseph. He attended Washington Schools, and in September 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

In 1962, he was honorably discharged and worked construction in Lincoln, Neb., for a few years before returning to Washington and opening the Sportsman Bar in 1968.

On March 19, 1971, he married Diane Shelley in Fairbury, Neb.

He was in the restaurant/ bar industry until his retirement in 2008. He went to work part-time for Centennial Homestead and Camp Creek.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Leona Sand, Diana Fell; brothers-in-law, Walt Hinkle, William Sand; sisters-in-law, Delores Ouellette, Peggy Ouellette; grandson, Jase Gepner; and great-granddaughter, Kyree Tiemeyer. Survivors include his chil

Survivors include his children, Robin (Scott) Sawin, Denise (Richard) Powell, Donna (Clint) Eubanks, Nicole Ouellette, Heather (Eric) Gepner, Fallon (Jeremy) Craig, and Quentin Ouellette; 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorette Hinkle, Sharon (Garry) Keeler; brothers Dean Ouellette, James Ouellette; and brother-in-law, Greg Fell.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at Ward Funeral Home, Washington.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Washington. Father Joseph Kieffer will officiate. Sheila Ouellette will be the organist.

Honorary pallbearers are Dakota Helms, Konner Gepner, Camden Gepner, Barrett “Bear” Gepner, Kaden Ping and Grayson Votipka.

Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
