Larry Dean Leck, 74, of Holton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at The Pines in Holton. He was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Marysville, the son of H. Paul and Eva (Allerheiligen) Leck.

Larry graduated from Washington High School earning the FFA State and American Farmer Degree. He had also lived in the Washington and Netawaka communities. Larry was a farmer and stockman, drove the school bus for Jackson Heights USD 335, worked for Noxious Weed in Washington County and also worked for BMB in Holton for many years.

Larry was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka. He set a World Drag Racing Record with American Hot Rod Association in August of 1969.

Survivors include his children, Deanna McAllister (Joe), of Holton, Kirk Leck, of St. Joseph, Mo., Kelly Devinney (Sonya), of Merkel, Texas, and Jacob Devinney (Mehrnaz), of Pleasanton, Calif.; a sister, Rosalie Bernasek (Galen), of Washington, a brother, John Leck (Mary), of Washington, 10 grandchildren, Haley, Jenna, McKenzie, Skyler, Kody, Cyrus, Soraya, Heather, Bentley and Manuel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva Leck, and a brother, Donald Leck.

Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
