Gary was born April 14, 1949, in rural Hanover, the youngest son of Frank and Clara (Siebenhaar) Rieth.

Gary was a 1967 graduate of Hanover High School and later attended vocational technical school in Beloit and studied auto-mechanics. He later served in the United States Navy.

Those that knew Gary know that he never sat still for very long. He was an avid watcher of any activity that involved his grandkids. When he wasn’t watching grandkids’ sports, you could find him at his farm or in his shop constructing Pinterest projects for his daughters or finding a way to fix anything broken.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Dwayne Rieth, June 2, 1993.

Survivors include: his wife, Cheryl and beloved dog Dolly, of the home; two daughters, Anna “Angel” (Kim) Lohse, of Hanover, and Jamie (Doug) Schulte, of Platte City, Mo.; 5 grandchildren, Trey Lohse, Tianna Lohse, Tessa Lohse, Lane Schulte, and Eli Schulte; and 6 siblings, Bernard (Betty) Rieth, Kenneth (Barbara) Rieth, Arnold (Trudy) Rieth, Rosella (Phil) Heier, Marcella Rieth, and Virginia Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
