Marvin LeRoy “Tug” DeLay, 92, of Morrowville, died Oct. 9, 2020, at his home.

He was born on April 30, 1928, at Morrowville to Charles and Sarah (Moore) Delay. He was a graduate of Morrowville High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

On Jan. 8, 1959, he was united in marriage to Edna Barbara Janete McGill Ovenston, at Fairbury, Neb.

He worked for Washington County driving a gravel truck and would help local farmers and others with harvest, doing odd jobs or wherever he was needed.

He attended the Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Charles DeLay; infant sister, Helen DeLay; and brothers, Charles M. DeLay and Arlo DeLay.

Survivors include wife, Edna; children, David (Connie) DeLay, Barbara (Brad Crocker) DeLay, Jennifer (Steve) Talkington, Patrick (Lynn) DeLay, all of Morrowville, Jonathan (Jamie Kosters) DeLay, Clay Center, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Della (Michael) Crutcher, of Geneva, Neb.; brother, Harvey DeLay, of Oregon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 15, from noon until 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at Ward Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Norwood will officiate. Music will be “I Walk the Line,” “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “He Raised Me Up.”

Burial will be in Morrowville Cemetery.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
