The half-pound burger at the Linn Legion was recently awarded the status as one of the “Best Burgers on 36” after the results of a U.S. Highway 36 Association-sponsored contest were released. The contest was based on online voting and included Just Left, Ricky’s Café, Linn Legion, Greenleaf Café, Game Time, From Here to Brooklyn, Hometown Café, Little Blue Bar & Grill, Haddam Café and Palmer Café.
Craig Taylor, the head cook at the Legion, said he thinks the special seasoning for the burger is the secret for the burger’s popularity. They also handmake the 8-ounce burger patties fresh every single day.
Taylor, who has been cooking in restaurants for over 25 years and has been at Linn a few years now, said every burger is made to order and includes lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on a toasted bun.
The burger is probably the most popular item on the menu at the Legion, according to Taylor.
The Legion was one of 13 “Best Burgers” announced last month by the U.S. Highway 36 Association. There was one winner per Kansas county along Highway 36.
