Hornbostel pulls to a stop after a million miles

After a million miles and a 34-year career as a rural postal carrier, Jim Hornbostel recently re-tired. Hornbostel, of Palmer, drove his Linn area route on Aug. 31 as his last day. He had worked as a rural postal carrier for 34 years, including a few years at the beginning as a sub driver, which he began in 1989 after competing against 80 other applicants for the position.
