BELLEVILLE - An old Blue Valley League matchup was rekindled with Hanover traveling to Belleville to face the Republic County Buffaloes on Feb. 5. This was their first matchup since 1993. The girls and boys were able to dominate the Buffaloes.
Girls roll over Republic County
The girls had a 27-9 lead at half, after holding Republic County to just two points in the second quarter. Hanover used their bench depth and had eight players in the scoring column. Ceegan Atkins had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Avery Behrends led the team in steals (5) and assists (4).

Boys have 30-6 halftime lead
The boys got off to a quick start against Republic County, with five players scoring in the first quarter and holding the Buffaloes to no points. Emmitt Jueneman scored eight in the second quarter and the Wildcats were up 30-6 at half.
The inside game saw Blake Hynek getting fouled in the third quarter, when he went six for nine from the free throw line. Hanover had 18 steals as a team, and won 56-29.
Hynek had a huge game both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. He had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, but he also led the team in steals, with six, and blocks, with three.
