Lola R. Herrs, 89, of Linn, died Feb. 8, 2021, at Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center.

She was born at rural Linn on July 24, 1931, to Herman and Emma (Meyerhoff) Scheele. On July 26, 1931, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. K. Karstensen and confirmed on March 25, 1945, by Rev. W.G. Biel. She grew up west of Linn and graduated from Linn Rural High School.

When she was young she worked at the Washington County Creamery and then worked more than 20 years at the Linn Community Nursing Home.

On Sept. 30,1956, she was united in marriage to Verlin Herrs at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived south of Linn before moving to a farm near Washington.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, then transferred to Zion Lutheran.

Preceding her is death were her parents; husband, Verlin; daughter-in-law, Sandy Herrs; and brothers, Wilbert Scheele and Raymond Scheele; brothers-in-law, Marvin Moorman and Dennis Bokelman.

Survivors include sons, Neil Herrs, of Linn, Bruce (Dianne) Herrs, of Hanover, Gene Herrs, of Washington, Mark Herrs, of Marinette, Wisc.; sister, Darleen Moormann, of Manhattan; sisters-in-law, Donna Scheele, Esther Scheele, and Marcellene Bokelman; brothers-in-law, Lavern (Doris) Herrs, Lowell (Linda) Herrs; and 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Feb. 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn. Pastor Bob Leiste officiated. Eunice Beier was organist and the congregation sang “How Great Thou Art,” “Rock of Ages” and “Be Still, My Soul.”

Pallbearers were Kent Scheele, Larry Scheele, Marvin Moorman, Jr., Brent Bokelman, Michael Herrs and Gary Schaefer.

Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
