Lester L. Wiese, 84, of Linn, died Dec. 1, 2020, at Cambridge Place in Marysville.

He was born at Hanover to Otto and S o p h i a (Lindhorst)

Wiese on Aug. 18, 1936. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran in Hanover. He attended school in Hanover and graduated in 1955 from Linn High School. On Oct. 14, 1956, he married Janet Hornbostel at St. Paul Lutheran, Palmer.

He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He worked for the Washington County Coop Creamery after returning from the service. He then went on to work in the maintenance department as a rail inspector for Missouri Pacific Railroad. They later merged with Union Pacific Railroad and he retired after 27 ½ years.

Lester was a lifetime member of the Marshall County Historical Railroad Club.

He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn and the Linn American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brothers, Vernon and Henry; and brothers, Leroy and Lloyd.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Janet; children, Gary (Pamala) Wiese, of Palmer, Mark Wiese, of Clay Center, Debra (Mike) Rogge, of Linn; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Thomas, of Washington; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Wiese, of Linn, Joyce Wiese, of Salina, and Mary Lou (Ronnie) Lange, of Salina.

A private graveside funeral service with the immediate family was Dec. 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Linn. Rev. George McGuire officiated.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.
