Kasey Lee Smith, 31, of Jarbalo, Kan., passed away on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, in Omaha, Neb.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1989, to Dallas and Taunja Smith. He graduated high school in Washington in 2008 and attended Manhattan Christian College.

Kasey married his wife, Sara Smith, in June of 2011, and they shared one son, Waylon Smith, who was born in 2017.

Kasey is survived by his wife, Sara Smith, his son Waylon, his parents, Dallas and Taunja Smith, his sister Jessica Jones, two adopted sisters Lexi and Emily Smith, and his niece Ella Jones, as well as his grandparents, Jack and MaryKaye McCarty, and numerous extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and dear friends.

Kasey was proud to be a volunteer firefighter with the Alexandria Township Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his loved ones. He loved his family and friends fiercely, especially his wife and his son. Kasey’s young life was threatened by multiple struggles, but he will forever be remembered for his positive attitude and for being “Kasey Strong” through it all.

Services for Kasey were held on March 1 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the college fund that’s been set up for Waylon. Memorials may be mailed in c/0 Jessica Jones at 1817 S Spring Valley Rd., Junction City, KS 66441.
