Ruth Gladys King, 89, was born June 3, 1931, and died Nov. 30, 2020, at Park West Plaza, Wichita, after a long battle with dementia and Covid-19.

The graveside service was Dec. 5 at the Washington City Cemetery. Rev. Jim Stark officiated. “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace” were played.

She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 67 years, George King, an infant daughter Sharon Kay King, both her parents Alba and Mary Dodd, brothers Lawrence, Ralph and Perry and her sister Ruby.

She is survived by five sons, Steven (Linda), of New Albany, Ind., Dave (Kathy), of Johnson City, Tenn., Dennis (Elena), of Wichita, Mark (Tina), of Hillsboro, and Kevin (Christopher) Florence, of Portland, Ore., 11 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.

Memorial funds are established for Alzheimer's and dementia and also the Union Rescue Mission of Wichita. Contributions may be sent in care of the Ward Funeral Home, PO Box 157, Washington, Kansas 66968.
