Eddie Moore

Edna “Eddie” M. Moore passed peacefully into God’s loving arms early in the morning on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, in Glendale, Ariz., at the age of 94. Eddie, the 8th of 13 children, was born on March 14, 1927,on a farm near Collyer, Kan. Her family lived on farms near a number of small towns in midwestern Kansas during her childhood and then moved to a farm near Washington in her early teens.

After graduating from Washington High School in 1947 she spent a year at the University of Kansas. Eddie then moved to Lincoln, Neb., where she met the love of her life, John Moore. They were married there on Sept. 17, 1949. After moving many times over the next few years, they moved to Friend, Neb., in 1953 and adopted their son Norman in 1955.

In early 1960, the family moved to Kearney, Neb. After John’s graduation from Kearney State in 1963, they moved to Holbrook, Ariz., where they lived for the next 41 years. In Holbrook, Eddie was very involved in the community. She was active in the Holbrook United Methodist Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, P.E.O., Eastern Star, The First Step Workshop and the Bread of Life Mission. She was involved with the Bread of Life Mission from its inception and served on its Board as Treasurer. Eddie also enjoyed many creative activities including sewing, quilting, baking and decorating cakes and spending time in the garden with her rose bushes and other flowers. In the fall of 2004, Eddie and John moved to the Glencroft Retirement Community in Glendale, Ariz., and she became active in that community as well as in the First United Methodist Church of Glendale. She was always looking to help others and is still doing that after her death by donating her body for medical and scientific research at a local medical university.

Eddie is survived by her son, Norman (Kathy), two granddaughters, Sara Wellensiek (Brian) and Emily Moore, three great grandsons, Andrew, Eli, and Owen Wellensiek, a sister, Agnes Marsteller (Ray), many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, an infant son, her parents, John and Lizzy Linenberger, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a celebration of life service at this time.
