Washington Rotary will have its annual Festival of Trees fundraising event this Saturday, Dec. 12, with online bidding of donated auction items beginning at 5 p.m. The virtual event will take place on the Facebook page “Festival of Trees-Washington Rotary.” Money raised from the event will benefit Washington City Park improvements and Washington Rotary’s scholarship program.
The auction items can be viewed on the Festival of Trees Facebook page and in the Washington County News windows until Friday afternoon. At 5 p.m. on Saturday Facebook users can go to the Festival of Trees Facebook page and type in bids for each item. The items will have staggered ending times, which will be posted on the items. The bidding will end on the first items at 7 p.m. The items will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday during the auction for pickup.
Those who can’t participate in the live Facebook auction on Saturday evening are encouraged to have someone bid for them or leave bids with Rotary members Laramie Jueneman at 785-747-6822 or Caitlin Placek at 402-587-2525.
Donated items for the auction include an Italian dinner gift basket, a basket of cheese, chocolates, Liquid Art Winery wine and more snacks, an afternoon tea gift basket, two gift baskets with toys including a basket with a basketball, drone, remote control car and more, a meat bundle, a chainsaw-carved Jayhawk, a KU 2020 Champions t-shirt, a Chiefs championship t-shirt, a Baileys gift set, a bottle of bourbon, a bottle of festively dressed Tito’s vodka, a two-bottle wooden wine box, a large wood and tin “Hello” sign, a case of Scott toilet paper, two handmade cutting boards, many Christmas décor items including several large Santa and elf figures, some of which come with bottles of wine or liqueur, many wreaths, a decorated Christmas tree, a miniature light-up Christmas tree, two Christmas floral arrangements, a metal “Merry” sign, a lighted “JOY” lawn display, and a large tractor tire wreath, among other items.
