Clifton-Clyde boys and Hanover girls win Belleville meet

The Hanover girls’ and the Clifton-Clyde High School boys’ track teams took home top honors from the Belleville Lions Club Track meet April 17 at Belleville. The HHS girls claimed the gold medal in the 800 (Claire Zarybnicky), the 4x100 relay

Linn track teams place third at Frankfort

The Linn High School track teams placed fourth place in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions of the Frankfort Invitational Thursday, April 10, at Frankfort.

The LHS boys scored 66 points; the Lady Bulldogs tallied 56 points.

Hanover golf team takes second at Frankfort Invite

The Hanover High School golf team took second place at the Frankfort Invitational on April 10. The Wildcats shot a 4-man score of 408

Frankfort was first with a 365. Valley Heights placed third with a 421 and Centralia was fourth with a 423.

Losing seven to graduation leaves the Lady Tigers thin in experience

The Washington County High School girls’ track team will be young this season. After graduating seven seniors, the 2018 version will be made up of two seniors, five sophomores and five freshmen. Six are returning letter winners.

Of those seven graduates, two qualified for the state meet in Class 2A, and both girls brought home medals. Jenna Hennerberg placed fifth in the shot put and Brenna Linenberger finished in sixth in the discus. Also lost to graduation were Makinna Bentz, Kirsten Kingsbury, Rita Liu, Annie Otott and Rachel Wood.

Hanover and Linn track teams compete at Valley Hts.

Track athletes from Hanover and Linn High Schools were among those competing at the Valley Heights Invitational meet last Thursday at the VHHS track. There was a total of 10 schools represented.

Hanover finished in fourth place on both the boys and girls side. William Peters won the high jump and the shot put. Claire Zarybnicky and Macy Doebele took second place in the 800 and triple jump respectively. Hanover’s 4x400 and 4x800 relays also took home silver medals.

Local basketball players named to all-class teams

Several Twin Valley League basketball players have been selected to All-Class teams in both the Topeka Capital- Journal and Sports in Kansas.

Macy Doebele, a junior at Hanover High School, was named the Sports in Kansas Player of the Year in Class 1A, Division I. Her coach, Chris Beikmann, was named Coach of the Year.

Ohlde to play VB for Cloud

Shelby Ohlde signed on March 7 to play volleyball for Cloud County Community College. She was a first team all-state and all-league middle hitter for the Linn Bulldogs. Hanover girls claim repeat state title

The Hanover Wildcats celebrate during their team photo after winning the Class 1A-Division 1 state championship at Hays on Saturday. They beat Frankfort 50-47 in the fi rst round, South Central in the semi-finals 54-46 and St. Paul 48-26 in the championship game.
