Linn gets close win over Eagles

BY JEFF WURTZ

LINN – Two unique and contrasting styles were on display in Linn on Friday as the Clifton-Clyde Eagles visited the Linn Bulldogs. A strong Eagle running game was met with an excellent passing night from Linn. The Bulldogs took the late win 42-34. Despite a rough start for both teams including fi ve turnovers and no scoring in the fi rst quarter they would eventually heat up and put up some phenomenal back and forth offense for the rest of the contest.

An excellent fi rst weekend of college football is in the books, the kickoff to the NFL season comes on Thursday and the prep ranks start on Friday. But this year I’m struggling to fit in to football season like I always do. There is something keeping me stuck in summer mode.

Good enough for the ‘New Year’s Six’?

In late 2013, a system was arranged for college football to form a four-team playoff to determine a true national champion and completely dismantle the Bowl Championship Series.
