The Washington County boys basketball team took the court facing off against Wakefield last Friday as part of the Thunderbird Classic preliminary round. The Tigers used a good night of shooting from long range to propel themselves to the victory over the Bombers 59-42.

Five Hanover boys score in double  gures in a win against Axtell

The Hanover Wildcat boys basketball team started off the 2014-15 season with a game against the Axtell Eagles. Five Wildcats finished in double figures as they picked up their first win of the season, 80-61. Andrew Bruna was the point leader for Hanover with 19, two assists and four rebounds. Will Bruna fi nished the night with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. 14 points were netted by Austin Diederich and Hunter Nicholson had 12.

Washington County boys cruise by Clifton-Clyde

The Washington County boys’ basketball team opened their season with a matchup against the Clifton-Clyde Eagles. The Tigers started the game with a large amount of intensity and great defense and were able to gain a big lead early and held on to it, in a 59-17 win.

Losing 4 of 5 starters from the 2013-14 team will be the biggest test the Bulldogs face in the early part of the season.
With all three of the perimeter players being lost to graduation players like Sophomore Chase McGatlin, Juniors Alex Choto
and Kolton Smith will all be asked to handle the ball for their team.

Hanover falls to Central Plains in State Championship

The Hanover Wildcat football team traveled to Newton, KS to take on Claflin-Central Plains for the 8-Man Division I State Championship. The Wildcats engaged in an incredibly competitive game. For the majority of the game the teams were separated by one possession but ultimately the Oilers took the victory 42-30.

Hunter Kier selected to play in national all-star bowl in Orlando

After performing well at a camp in July, Hunter Kier was selected to play in an All-American Bowl in Orlando in January.

While attending an offense-defense football camp in Kansas City in July, Hunter Kier, 15, Washington, was named an Offense-Defense All-American and invited to participate in the 9th annual Offense-Defense Bowl Week festivities taking place at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Hanover rolls by Osborne to reach state championship

The Hanover Wildcat football team traveled to Osborne on Friday night for Sub-State action against the Osborne Bulldogs. The Hanover offense continued its outstanding pace gaining nearly 600 total yards in the contest. The Wildcats would take the victory 74-44 and advance to the 8-Man Division 1 State Championship. Quarterback Andrew Bruna had 16 completions on 18 attempts. Bruna threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns. Both the completions and the passing yards were season highs for the Junior QB.

Hanover to face Central Plains in championship game on Saturday

Hanover rolled over last year’s state champion Osborne Bulldogs on Friday in Osborne and the Wildcats are now headed to the 8-man Division 1 State Championship game on Saturday in Newton. The Wildcats defeated Osborne 74-44 and will now face the western champion Central Plains Oilers at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Fischer Field, Newton. Central Plains defeated Ness City 32-0 to qualify for the championship game.
