Tigers come out strong in second half to get 26 point win over Linn

LINN – It was a low-scoring game in the first half between the Washington County boys and Linn on Jan. 13 at Linn. Linn
only scored four points in the fourth quarter, but came back in the second quarter to close the gap to a 20-14 Washington
County lead. But the Tigers owned the  second half, scoring 19 in the third and 20 in the fourth, to Linn’s total 18 point second half effort. Washington County won 59-33

Lady Tigers cruise to a win over Wetmore, reach semis

ONAGA – After a first round Twin Valley League Tournament bye, the Washington County girls cruised through their second round game against W more on Monday at Onaga. The Tigers jumped to a 15-2 first quarter lead and took a 27-9 lead into half. The second half was much of the same and the Tigers won 61-33. This was a welcome reversal of performance against Wetmore, who played Washington County tough earlier in the season when they started the game ahead of the Tigers 17-4 after the first quarter. In  hat game, Washington County worked to come back through the entirety of the game and ended up winning by nine. The win keeps the Tigers undefeated and sent them into the semifinal round, where they will meet Axtell at 6 p.m. Friday in Onag

Bulldogs fall in rst round of TVL

ONAGA – The Linn boys were evenly matched against  Twin Valley League tournament host Onaga in two out of the four quarters in the first round of competition on Saturday. But it  was those two bad quarters thatgave Onaga a 23 point win over
the Bulldogs, sending Linn into the consolation bracket. Onaga jumped to a 15-6 first quarter lead over Linn and the margin stayed the same for the next two quarters. But Onaga got hot in the fourth, scoring 18points and holding Linn to four
to win 54-31.

Linn girls’ defense shuts down Wetmore, pick up road a win

The Linn girls’ defensive intensity stopped the scoring ability of the Wetmore Cardinals on Friday at Wetmore, which gave the Bulldogs a league win on the road. The Cardinals can usually come up with hot shooting streaks, but Linn held them to two points in the first quarter and three points in the second, to go up 24-5 at half.

The Hanover boys looked like they couldn’t miss from long range in the fi rst quarter of their home game against Linn on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The Wildcats dropped in six three-pointers in the fi rst quarter, including three by Hunter Nicholson. They had 27 points in the quarter, compared to nine from Linn. The Wildcats continued the scoring onslaught throughout the game, going up 46-18 at half and winning 82-28.

The Tiger boys dominated the Blue Valley Rams in a home game on Jan. 6. Washington County put up 17 points, 25 points and 17 points in the fi rst three quarters before pulling back the reins in the game. They led 42-10 at half and won 67-19. Despite the overpowering win, Washington County Head Coach Lyle Thompson was wanting to see more intensity from his team.

BLOOMINGTON — As the parents of four athletes, Todd and Linda Bisping are team oriented. “They don’t believe that success is just us,” said their daughter, Brandi, who had a gamehigh 15 points for Morton High School’s girls basketball team in a 49-38 win over Normal West in the State Farm Holiday Classic large-school division on Friday.

Hanover picks up league win against Blue Valley

Hanover put up 81 points in a win over Blue Valley on Dec. 16 at Randolph, and that was with the team’s substitutes getting plenty of time on the floor. Hanover won 81-33 in the league game to keep their undefeated streak alive this season.

Chad Gross paces Linn with 20 points in a win against Blue Valley

The Linn Bulldog boys basketball team hosted the Blue Valley Rams on December 9th. Linn’s offense was very strong throughout the game and the defense kept the Rams just out of reach as Linn would win the game 48-41. Senior Chad Gross had a 20 point evening to lead Bulldog scorers. Gross added eight rebounds and five assists. Fellow senior Grant Cook netted 12 points and seven assists.
