Dylan Taylor Bruna, 21, Hanover, died Thursday , Nov. 28, 2013, near Hanover. He was born Nov. 24, 1992, at Hanover, son of Brian and Darice (Ohlde) Bruna. He attended St. John’s Catholic School in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School in 2011. He then attended North Central Kansas Technical College, Beloit. He was a member of St. John’s
Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Dorothy Bruna, and Norbert Ohlde. Survivors include his parents, Brian and Darice Bruna, Hanover; three brothers, Logan Bruna, Jaydan Bruna and Camran Bruna, all of Hanover; and grandmother, Marilynne Ohlde, Linn. Alice Brax

Alice E. Brax, 94, Lindsborg, died Nov. 15, 2013. She was born Dec. 6, 1918, the daughter of Gust and Hannah (Thorstenberg) Ericson in Lindsborg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; sisters, Imogene Dryer and Hazel Ericson; brothers, Carl Ericson and Virgil Ericson, and grandson, Jeff Brax. Survivors include her sons, Robert Brax and wife, Jill, McPherson, Don Brax and wife, Kathy, Washington, Allan Brax and wife, Cheryl, Grand Island, Neb., and David Brax and wife, Sue, Savannah, Mo; eight grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

Lonnie Beneda

Lonnie D. Beneda, 69, son of Ernest Beneda and Viola Benyshek, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in the Salina Regional
Health Center. He was born Dec. 2, 1943, at the Beiderwell Hospital in Belleville. Lonnie attended the Jefferson Center
country school that was originally one mile south of the Beneda homestead on 220 Rd. Lonnie played football at Cuba
High School. After graduation in 1961, he went to work at The Belleville Telescope for 51 years. He married Nancy Dart on July 7, 1963, at the Cuba Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Beneda, his mother Viola Benyshek Beneda, a nephew Jeffrey Jandera, and a niece Holly Klink. Survivors include his wife Nancy Dart Beneda; one son, Danny Beneda and wife, Nancy, Cuba; a daughter, Deena Khosh and husband, Farhang,

Becky L. Blecha, 74, died Dec. 1, 2013, at Republic County Long Term Care, Belleville . She was born Feb. 6, 1939, at Haddam, the daughter of Forrest Kennedy and Viola (Delay) Kennedy. She grew up and attended school in Haddam in her early years and then moved with her family to Wichita where she completed her education at West High School.
On March 31, 1956, she married Robert B. Blecha. The couple made their home in Wichita where they owned and operated a Vickers Service Station. She also was a homemaker. In 1987, the couple retired and moved back to Haddam.
She was active in many community activities in Haddam for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Blecha in 2001; an infant daughter, Pamela; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two sons,

James L. Svanda, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at the Hanover Hospital, Hanover. He was born Sept. 1, 1939, at Washington, son of Charles L. and Mabel H. (Kochsmeier) Svanda. He attended Washington Schools. Mr. Svanda worked for the City of Washington and Washington County. When he retired from the county, he was a loader operator.

Ruth Roberts

Ruth Elaine Roberts, 73, Lindsborg, died Nov. 19, 2013. She was born June 23, 1940, the daughter of Leonard and Anna (Hedding) Prior in Clay Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Diane Wessel, and brother, Wayne Prior. Survivors include a son, Mitch Rogge, Lindsborg; a daughter, Linda Wessel and husband, Fred, Sabetha; a sister, Pat Richie and husband, Eddie, Concordia; six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. A memorial service was Saturday, Nov. 23, at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg. Burial was at Reiter Cemetery, Linn. Memorials may be designated for the family in care of Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Jim Herda

James “Jim” Lloyd Herda, 58, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013. He was a native Kansan and the son of Betty Arlene Bonar Herda and the late Dr. Paul Raymond Herda. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Penny L. Herda Scheele. Jim had a compassion for life and meeting new friends. He loved his family and was a very open, warm and honest person. He is survived by his mother, Betty Arlene Bonar Herda; two sisters, Pamela Herda Hogan and her husband, Robert, Paula Herda Crowder and her husband, Julian; and many nieces and nephews. The family received friends Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the funeral home. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center was in charge of arrangements.
