Carolyn Mullen

Carolyn Mullen died July 17, 2014, while visiting family in El Paso, Texas. Carolyn was born Oct. 26, 1942, in Dunnellon, Fla., daughter of Willie Mae and Garland Hayes. Carolyn loved spending time with friends and family. She loved watching the birds from her patio, especially the cardinals and the humming birds. Carolyn married Jerry Mullen in 1990 in Florida. In 1997, they moved to Greenleaf, where they made their home. She was preceded in death by her fi rst husband, her parents, sister Sandra Darling and her son Billy Harvill. She is survived by husband Jerry Mullen; sister Frances (Peter) Crandall; brothers Robert (Lorrie) Hayes and Garland Hayes; three daughters Terry (Phil) Scheurer, Sherrill (Shorty) Goeckel and Mary Frances (John) Simmons; three stepsons Tony (Julie) Mullen, John Mullen and Chad Mullen; 11 grandchildren and fi ve great-grandchildren. A “celebration of life” will be held at the Greenleaf Legion at 5 p.m. on July 25, 2014, for family and friends.

Bud Wohler

Orville “Bud” Wohler, 97, Topeka, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the Topeka V.A. Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of over 70 years; two daughters, Dixie Lea Challacombe and husband, Gene, Topeka, and Dolores Schoenfeld and husband, Jim, Topeka; a brother, Jerome Wohler, Garnett; three sisters, Fern Stigge, Linn, Leona Burks, Topeka and Ila Logan, Concordia; two grandchildren and fi ve greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, July 25 at the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church near Randolph. Interment will be at the Fancy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the services from 11:00 to 12:00, also at the church. Interment and Military Honors will be at the Fancy Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church or the Samaritan’s Purse — Heal Our Patriots and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Robin Kelley

Robin Kelley, 51, Hanover, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at her home. Survivors include her husband, Randy; sons, Daniel Kelley, Pensacola, Fla., Travis Kelley, Rockport, Texas; daughter, Morgan Soriano, Waukegan, Ill.; brothers, Steve Meyn, Alexandria, Neb., Timmy Meyn, Savanah, Ga., Tommy Meyn, Fairbury, Neb.; sisters, Cindy Waddington, Hanover, Linda Taras, Odell, Neb.; and three grandchildren. A funeral service was Wednesday, July 23 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanover. Burial was in the Hanover City Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.

Pearl Hogan

Pearl Verlinda Hogan, 97, Batesville, Ark., died Saturday, July 19, 2014. She was born in Washington on July 24, 1916, the daughter of Jacob Neu and Laura Waterman Neu. She moved to Arkansas in 1945, and met her future husband, Griff Hogan, who was in the military service at the time. They were married on June 15, 1946, a marriage that lasted for almost 59 years before his death in 2005. Although she was a homemaker for most of her life, she and her husband owned and operated the Marvin Hotel on lower Main Street in Batesville, Ark., the associated restaurant, and the Illing Bus Line from 1967 to 1977. She was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church for 60 years, where she taught Sunday School to a large number of the area children. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers, Clyde Neu, Wayne Neu, and an infant brother, Jacob Neu, Jr.

Martha Gerdes

Martha Maria Gerdes, 87, died July 11, 2014. She is survived by her stepchildren, Shirley Hawley and husband, Ron, Apple Valley, Calif., Gilmer Gerdes and wife, Sharon, Windsor, Colo., Mae Thomas and husband, Don, Council Grove, and David Gerdes and wife, Sharon, Colorado; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was Tuesday, July 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church northeast of Hanover with Rev. Rodney Fritz offi ciating. Burial was in the Hanover City Cemetery.
