Helen Hennon

Helen Lois Hennon, 87, died Feb. 12, 2014, at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born in Washington on Sept. 18, 1926, and was the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in journalism and started her writing career as a newspaper reporter before venturing to New Mexico 40 years ago. She worked for the New Mexico Transportation Department in Santa Fe. She also worked parttime at Kistler Collister Specialty Clothing in Albuquerque and, after retiring at 74, volunteered for the City of Albuquerque’s Animal Service Division and Presbyterian HealthPlex. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alta Rhodes Hennon. Survivors include her one sister Margaret Garcia and husband, Joseph, from Pennsylvania. A memorial to celebrate her life will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23 at the home of her niece at 9723 Cassidy Dr NW, Albuquerque, N.M.

Sylvia C. Stuenkel

Sylvia C. S t u e n k e l , 93, died S a t u r d a y, Feb. 1, 2014, at her home in Linn. She was born on April 28, 1920, to Harry and Pauline (Blanken) Stuenkel at Linn. She was baptized on May 2, 1920, by Rev. J.G.B. Keller and confirmed by Rev. Keller in 1934. Sylvia attended school in Kansas City to become an LPN. She then worked at the KU Medical Center for 30 years. When she retired, she returned to the Linn area. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Palmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Velma Braun. Survivors include her brother, Marvin Stuenkel, Linn;  sisters, Cecelia Dahm, Ruth Mueller, Lavera Helms, Lula Stuenkel, all of Linn; and a brother-in-law, Harold Braun, Clay Center. A funeral service was Wednesday, Feb. 5 at St. John’s Lutheran, Palmer. Pastor Jacob Sherry officiated. Sheila

Eddie A. Charbonneau

Eddie A. Charbonneau, 86, Clyde, died Feb. 4, 2014, at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde. He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Clyde to Albert and Eda (LaBarge) Charbonneau. He attended Merryville Country School. He farmed and was a school bus driver for 32 years. He operated the FINA gas station in Clyde. He married Leona Dallen on Feb. 8, 1950, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 2012. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ella Charbonneau.
Survivors include daughters, Virginia Timm and husband, Gary, White City, JoAnne Breault, and husband, Scott, Wamego; sons, Loren Charbonneau and wife, Christine, Conroe, Texas, and Steve Charbonneau and wife, Lori, Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Armand Charbonneau and wife, Rosanna, Marysville, and Ernest Dean Charbonneau and wife, Evelyn, Concordia; sister, Rosella Hubert, Concordia; 10 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-7

Richard Eugene Duggan

Richard Eugene Duggan, 64, Clifton, died Jan. 24, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, Topeka. He was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Clay Center to Malvin, Sr. and Golda (Williams) Duggan, He was raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1969. He operated a small engine repair shop in Clay Center, worked as a welder at Linn Enterprises and at Hutchinson- Mayrath Manufacturing. He married Judy Chaput on May 8, 1987. They made their home in Clifton where he ran an small engine repair shop. Judy preceded him in death on April 8, 2013. He was a member of Faith United Church Presbyterian. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Duggan, a brother Malvin, Jr. and his

Leona E. Durst

Leona E. Durst, 102, Sabetha, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Home. She was born March 13, 1911, the daughter of William Shara and Frances (Kvasnicka) Shara at Narka. She grew up in the Narka area and moved to Red Oak, Iowa, for  a short time after graduating from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in teaching.
She then moved to Morrowville until 2002 when she moved to the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. She married Floyd “Dick” Durst on Nov. 26, 1936, in Ashland. They adopted two children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd “Dick” Durst on May 10, 1997; a son, Charles Durst; a daughter, Janet Ryan and a grandson, Michael Ryan. She is survived by six grandchildren. Private family memorial services were Friday, Jan. 24 at the Popkess  Mortuary Chapel, Sabetha. The inurnment will be private by the family in the Morrowville Cemetery, Morrowville. Memorial
