Karen Rae Wingo, 51, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Manhattan. She was born to Troy and Lila (Shum) Wingo at Isabella Puerto Rico on Nov. 23, 1962. She graduated from Washington High School in 1981. She attended college and went on to work for the accounting department at Kansas State University and in business relations. Survivors include her mother, Lila Wingo, Washington; father, Troy Wingo and wife, April, Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Marc Wingo and wife, Pam, Salina; and step-sisters, Bobbie, Beryl and Bonnie. A funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 13 at the First Baptist Church, Washington. Rev. Kevin Wood officiated. Erin Toole was organist and Rick and Julie Tegethoff sang “How Great Thou Art.” The congregation sang “Count Your Blessing” and “In the Garden.” Pallbearers were Rick Tegethoff, Paul Weisinger, J.R. Rosenquist, Randy Shank, Gary Dusin and Marc Wingo. Burial was in Washington City Cemetery. A memorial fund is established to the American Cancer Society.

John III (Jackie) Wood died April 21, 2007, at Wichita. John, Jr. Wood died June 30, 2011, at Wichita. Betty Wood died May 1, 2014, at Ancona, IL. Survivors are daughters, Sharon Miller and husband, Lester, Ancona, IL, and Linda Cain and husband, Robert, Painesville, Ohio; Jackie’s wife, Louise, Wichita; children and grandchildren, Raymond Miller, Ancona IL; Michael Miller and wife, Christina, Port Orchard, Wash.; John IV Wood and wife, Christine, Perry Okla.; Lindsay Dean and husband, Tim, Wichita; Melissa and Heather Cain, Painesville, Ohio; four greatgrandchildren; John’s brothers, James, Mt. Herman, Calif. and William, Rose Hill; and sisters Mary Jean Willard, Derby, and Wilma Depuy, Winthrop, Minn. A private family inurnment for John Wood, his wife Betty (Walters) Wood and their son, John Wood III was Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining.The three were cremated and buried alongside another son and brother, James.

Life-long Hanover resident Dorothy Eliz a beth Wetter Bruna passed away September 4, 2014 in Manhattan, KS, at the age of 82. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Visitation was Sunday, September 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 8, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated. The readers were Jason Sheeley and her granddaughters Kristi Lockamy, Brigitte Bruna, Marie Schmitz and Victoria Welch. KellySmith was the organist. Abby Whitney sang “Remember Me.” The Toby Bruna family sang “Angels Among Us.” Kelly and the church choir sang “Ave Maria,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “On Eagles Wings” and “Going Home.” Offertory gifts were brought up by her grandchildren Brandy Bruna, Erica Schmitz, Brianna Schmitz, Michelle Rombeck, Olivia Welch, and Lance Welch.

Wilma Dietrick

Wilma May (Bertram) Dietrick, 90, Lincoln, passed away September 3, 2014. Born May 1, 1924 south of Haddam, KS to John William Henry and Mary Lillian (Eichman) Bertram. Wilma volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother and Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and embroidering. Wilma was a faithful member of First Christian Church, also a member of Temple Chapter #271, O.E.S. and Naphis Temple, Daughters of the Nile. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Roy, daughter Mary Jo, and sisters Eileen F. Day, Lillian E. Heina, and B. Clariece Seachord. Survived by her sister Doris A. Kolman, Washington, KS; sons and daughter-in-law Roy G and Irene Dietrick, Humboldt, NE, Dale L. and Ronda Dietrick, Eugene, OR, Scott L. and Monte D. Dietrick, both of Lincoln; 4 granddaughters, 4 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Monday, Sept.

Beau Berger

Beau Dean Berger, infant son of Eric and Anna Berger, Linn, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the Methodist Women’s Hospital in Omaha, Neb. Other survivors include his sister, Raegan Berger; grandparents, Cliff and Debbie Miller, Blue Rapids, and Ivan “Butch” and Janet Berger, Waterville; great-grandparents, Howard and Helen Miller, Waterville, Arline Kerns, Lindsborg, and Catherine Price, Marysville; uncles, Brian Miller and wife, Jamie, Wichita, and Travis Miller, Blue Rapids; and aunt, Rebecca Berger, Waterville. He was preceded in death by infant sister, Grace Ann Berger; great-grandparents, Melvin Kerns, Orville and Kathryn Berger and Lee Price; and uncle, Kurtis Berger. Private services were held with burial in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Blue Rapids. Kinsley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Veronica Jovita (Mercier) Jones, 86, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014.
