Veone E. Gripp, 94, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at University of Kansas Hospital. A visitation was held 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112 with memorial services following at 3 p.m. A graveside service was conducted at the Washington cemetery Feb. 20 by Pastor Rustin McClure of Washington.Veone was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Butler County, Kan. to Walter and Stella Hatter. She lived in Washington, Kan. throughout childhood and was a 1939 alumni of Washington High School. She married Francis Gripp in 1940 and moved to Kansas City. They returned each year to attend the Washington High School alumni banquet. She was a payroll clerk for the Board of Public Utilities, Kansas City, Kan. prior to retirement.She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Gladiola Chapter #459, American Legion Auxilliary #199, Abdallah Shrine Temple Ladies without Nobles, and a Ladies Card Club.

Marjorie Breitling

Marjorie P. Breitling, 81, Northglenn, Colo., died Feb. 6, 2015. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Potts, Washington, two sons Gary Schroeder and wife, Carlene, Mark Schroeder and wife, Tammy, a daughter, Cathy Marshall; six grandchildren and three (soon to be four) greatgrandchildren. Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery, 10201 North Grant St., Thornton, Colo. was in charge of arrangements.

Dale Peterson

Dale Eldon Peterson, 79, died Feb. 13, 2015. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Evelyn (Epp) and children, Susan Stolzenburg and husband, Jay, Salina, John Peterson and wife, Janel, Haddam, Dalene Burnum and husband, Jeremy, Winter Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Jean Peterson and Caroline Peterson. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Nutter Mortuary, 116 W. 6th Street, Concordia, with family receiving guests from 6-7 p.m. A prayer service with communion will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Clyde. Memorials may be made to Bethany Oratorio Society, Gideon’s International or Radio Kansas. Donald Wurtz

Donald G. Wurtz, 85, Clifton, died Feb. 14, 2015 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. Survivors include his wife, Berniece Wurtz, Clifton; daughters, Linda Chaput and husband, Richard, Salina, Jeanette Pearson and husband, Dan, Bartlesville, Okla., and Donna Breeding, Clifton; son Gary Wurtz and wife, Cindy, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; brothers, Jack Wurtz, Derald Wurtz, Charles Wurtz and Larry Wurtz; sisters, Sharon McDaniels, Trudy Weir and Mary Parmentor; 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the St Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clifton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20 with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Clifton. Memorials may be made to KSU Foundation for the Donald G. Wurtz scholarship fund or the Clifton Ball Association.

Delmer Wiechmann

Delmer E. Wiechmann, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan. His brother, Elden Wiechmann, Linn, survives him. A funeral service was Friday, Feb. 13 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Sheila Ouellette was organist, and the congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “I’m But a Stranger Here” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” Pallbearers were Royce Kolle, Randy Meyer, Quentin Meyer, Brady Meyer, Cody Meyer and Brian Oldehoeft. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Linn. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.

Savannah Clark

Savannah Jean Clark died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln, Neb. She was born Feb. 5, 2015, to Kevin and Laura (Hiesterman) Clark. Survivors include her parents, Kevin and Laura Clark; twin brother, Kaleb; grandparents, Ernie and Cindy Hiesterman, Barnes, and Ronald and Darlene Clark, Clay Center; great-grandparents, Norma and Sweeney Megenity, Barnes, and Donald and Wanda Clark, Beloit. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, west of Linn. Pastor Richard Rikli and Pastor Joel Hiesterman will officiate. Barb Ruhnke will be the organist. Hymns are “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “God Loves Me Dearly.” Pallbearers are Daniel Hiesterman and Jeremy Olson. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Valora Wurtz

Valora Herta (Schardt) Wurtz, 85, Clifton, died at the Linn Community Nursing home on Feb. 15. She was born on Aug. 30, 1929, at home near Carleton, Neb, to Henry C. and Emilie Albrecht Schardt. She was the seventh child of ten born to Henry C. and Emilie. She was baptized in the year of her birth at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Friedensau Neb. She was confirmed in her faith in 1943 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Friedensau, Neb. She attended the North Friedensau Parochial school through 8th grade and completed her education at the Deshler High School, graduating in 1947. Following graduation, she worked at a bank in Fairbury, Neb. until she was married. On June 27, 1951, she married Herman Wurtz at the Clara Church. Following their marriage, the couple resided on their farm 10 miles north of Clifton. She was a homemaker and active in the Clifton community. She participated in the St.

Timothy Lee “Tim” Becker, 64, Turpin, Okla., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; four sons, Tom Becker  and wife, Sherri, Marysville, Trent Becker and companion Mandy Habig, Marysville, Tyron Becker and wife, Rita, Hanover, and Travis Becker and wife  Chelsea, Hanover; daughter, Theresa Becker and companion Floyd DeHart, Greenleaf; two brothers, Steve Becker, Exeter,  Neb., and Dave Becker and wife Denise, York, Neb.; sister, Geri Lynn Kerby and husband,  Ken, Bellevue, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.
