Lee Hinkle

Lee Oliver Hinkle, 91, Greenleaf, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids. His parents were Neola E. (Weiche) and John G. Hinkle. He was born Feb. 10, 1923, on the family farm near Barnes. After graduating from Barnes High School in 1941, he joined the US Navy serving aboard a destroyer in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Lucille Lippert in 1947, they had four children together. They later divorced. After the war, he returned to farming and continued to farm until his retirement. Then on Dec. 10, 1982, he married Maxine R. (Showalter) With in Beatrice, Neb., she died in 2012. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, VFW Post 2699 in Marysville, Shaw Post 235 of the American Legion in Greenleaf and had served as a member of the Greenleaf City Council for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine, an infant daughter, Jody Lynne, and a sister Edna Mae Cook.

Arlene Seifert

Arlene Virginia (Keeler) Seifert, 95, rural Clyde-Clifton area, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville. She was born April 4, 1919, to August Carl and Clara Elizabeth (Fredericksen) Avers near Davenport, Neb., the eighth of nine children. She attended the Davenport school, graduating the eighth grade. She married Lowell Keeler on Jan. 23, 1938. On Jan. 30, 1985, Lowell suddenly died. On Aug. 21, 1993, she married Dean Leon Seifert. They moved to Dean’s farm in the Brantford area and were involved in the farming operation. She sold her quilts to those in nine different states and over 100 for the World Relief Organization. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; sons, Gordon and Valdon; grandson, Danny; daughter-inlaw, Shirley; sisters, Gladys, Orva, Friedline and Bernice; and brothers, Roy, Alvie, Burdette, and Merle.

Lester Clark

Lester Ralph Clark, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, in Conroe, Texas. He is survived by two daughters Jane Kelley, Conroe, Texas, and Judy Hamilton and husband, Norm, Plano, Texas, four sisters, Laurene Knedlik, Alamo, Calif., Jeanette Oentrich, Barnes; Connie Benson, Hayward, Calif., and Carol Jones, Fremont, Calif. He is also survived by four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation was at Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors in Houston, on Sept. 17. Pastor Jeffrey Eernisse of Second Christian Church officiated at funeral services in the chapel of Brookside Lauder Funeral Home and graveside services following at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston on Sept. 18.

Glendora McCaddon

Glendora McCaddon, 87, Clifton, died Nov. 28, 2014, at her residence in Clifton. She was born Feb. 20, 1927, at Clifton to Orrin and Jennie (Glidden) Harris. She was raised in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School. She worked several jobs before marrying Ralph McCaddon on Aug. 3, 1946. Following marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper for her  husband. She was a member of Faith United Church Presbyterian where she served as deaconess, held many offi ces in
the American Legion Auxiliary, Clifton Historical Society, United Women’s Presbyterian, I.O.O.F Cemetery Board and Cub  Scout Den Mother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph on July 7, 2000, her parents, three brothers, one

Lloyd Erickson

Lloyd Erickson , 91, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. Survivors include his wife,  Vivian (Kelly), Clyde; daughters, Carol Sue Blecha and husband, Paul, and Janet Jones and husband, Nick, all of Belleville; son, Tom Erickson and wife, Julie, Clifton; sister, Geneva Denholm, Manhattan; nine grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were Tue., Dec. 2 at the Brantford Evangelical Covenant Church, rural Clyde, with Pastors Derek VanderMolen and Russell Sizemore offi ciating. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Country Chapel Hour sponsored by the Brotherhood at Brantford Evangelical Covenant Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home. John Depew

John Henry Depew, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the Washington County Hospital. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged on Nov. 21, 1947. Survivors include thirteen nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Greenleaf, with Fr. David Metz officiating. Sheila Ouellette was organist and the congregation sang, “Be Not Afraid,” “On Eagles Wings,” and “You Are Mine.” Pallbearers were David Long, Jim Long, John Long, Rob Long, John McGrath and Doug Crandall. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund is established to American Cancer Society or Greenleaf American Legion. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.

Milford Drinkgern

Milford W. Drinkgern, 85, of Marysville, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Cambridge Place in Marysville.Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while the congregation sang, “What a Friend We Have In Jesus,” “Lift High the Cross” and “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me.” The choir sang “Abide With Me.” The pallbearers were Lennis Holle, Arlan Holle, Ralph Plegge, Larry Preuss, Robert Gleue, Donnie Butler, Warren Drinkgern and Tim Ackerman. The honorary pallbearers were Mert Keller, Martha Clark, Gene Helms, Larry Hughes, Harold Travelute, Earl Underwood, Wilmer Bargmann and Harold Bargmann. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen. Milford was born at Bremen on March 21, 1929, to Fred and Ella (Rettig) Drinkgern.

Mary Lou Woolard

Mary Lou Woolard, 81, died Tuesday Nov. 11, 2014, at Boulder, Colo. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill Woolard; siblings, Elmer Dodds, Robert Dodds and wife, Betty, Donald Dodds and Norma Doran and husband, Ron. Funeral service was Saturday, Nov.15 at Ward Funeral Home, Washington, with Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiating. Sheila Ouellette was organist, and Leland Cook sang “In the Garden” and “Hymn of Promise.” “Hello Mary Lou” was played by Sheila Ouellette on the piano. Burial was in Washington City Cemetery.

Marion Stewart

Marion Stewart, 89, Fairbury, Neb., died Nov. 18 in Fairbury. Survivors include wife, Natalie Stewart, Fairbury, Neb., and daughter, Michelle Stewart, Lincoln, Neb. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the United Methodist Church, Fairbury, Neb., with Pastor Fay Hubbard officiating. Cremation has taken place; there will be no viewing. A register book is available at the funeral home to sign. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Research or MAYO Clinic Cancer Research. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements.
