Groves to celebrate golden anniversary

Don and Dorothy Grove will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday, July 11 with an open house from 2-4 p.m. at the
Morrowville Christian Church. Don Grove and Dorothy Kolman were married May 2, 1965, at the Morrowville Christian Church. Rev. Henry Grusing offi ciated.

Kohlmeyer wins Best of Show in art contest

Four members of the GFWC Modern Pioneers Study Club attended the GFWC Kansas 120th Convention Apr. 17- 18 at Lyons. The highlight of the meeting was receiving the Best of Show award in the state art contest for Breanna Kohlmeyer, a Washington County High School senior. Her piece was an ink drawingentitled “Decomposed.” There were 110 entries from across the state.

Student of the Month

Linn High School senior Kesiah Thalmann was awarded Washington County Student of the Month by the Washington Rotary Club at a ceremony on Monday. She was chosen for this award based on her accomplishments in academics, athletics, student activities and leadership. She is the daughter of Dan and Jennifer Thalmann, Palmer, and she has one older sister, Acacia, who studies and participates in track and field at Cloud County Community College, and three younger siblings, Eli who is 12, Ella who is 10, and Noah who is seven.
