One suspect arrested, second individual escaped arrest after crash in Centralia last Wednesday

A string of thefts in several counties last week, including farmsteads near Morrowville and Washington, has resulted in the search for a man declared armed and dangerous. Several vehicles and other items were stolen in Republic, Washington and Nemaha counties before the suspected thieves from Topeka were spotted last Wednesday. A 17-year old was captured while a 19-year-old remains on the loose.

According to Washington County sheriff Justin Cordry the thefts began as early as Monday, Oct. 2, when a property owner reported seeing a silver Impala parked in front of a machine shed south of Morrowville on 15th Road. The owner watched a man enter the shed and come out with a gas can. A second trip into the shed resulted in the theft of a 60-day tag from a vehicle before the thief drove away.
