REPLAYING HISTORY

After more than 20 years in storage, Washington’s old miniature golf course came to life at the Washington County Fair last week. Fair board member Bruce Simmons said he inquired about the golf course after the fair’s carnival cancelled two months before the fair. Nine of the 18 holes were plucked from a pasture and restored for the fair where about 250 people played miniature golf over two days of fair carnival games.

“My vote would be to add the other nine holes next year,” Simmons said. “It’s a unique addition to the fair.”

He said the idea to bring the town’s former miniature golf course back to life came when he was rounding up other carnival games and a sno cone and cotton candy machine. He found the current owner of the course – Dave Willbrant – and asked to use it for the fair.
