Nursing home helps test new techonology

Janell Wohler and Kate Rieth of the Linn Community Nursing Home made waves earlier this year when they spoke at a conference of Kansas nursing home administrators in Manhattan.

Kansas currently ranks 50th in the U.S. for number of patients on medications, but Linn Community Nursing Home has eliminated off-label use of antipsychotics for residents over the last five years. Wohler and Rieth urged their colleagues to do the same.

This speech caught the eye of the small company MyndVR, who creates virtual reality simulations. These simulations are, Wohler says, “non-invasive technology intended to provide entertainment and therapeutic benefits through music, mind exercises and travel experiences.
