From an outsider’s perspective—and one raised in the city at that—the cattle chutes and stock pens at Lay J Longhorns are about standard in size. Functional, adequate, no-frills, in combinations of rust and shiny chrome. From a longhorn’s perspective as it saunters from a stock trailer to a corridor that will take it to an industrial-strength hybrid squeeze chute contraption—a longhorn’s version of a full-body mammogram machine—the stock pens and chutes are ridiculously, insanely, insultingly inadequate.
