Thomas Joseph Barry, 54, Manhattan, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Mercy Regional Health Center. He was born in Dodge City on March 16, 1960, the son of Ruth V. (Rogers) Barry and the late Wallace D. Barry. At the age of seven, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was not expected to live more than a year. He graduated from Dodge City High School, and he attended Dodge City Community College. He worked at Joe’s Car Wash and Hardee’s Restaurant. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manhattan. This past November he moved into the Via Christi Health Care Center in Manhattan. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace, and two brothers, Loren Patrick and Charles Joseph along with his brother-in-law Robert Wolfe. Survivors include his mother, Ruth Barry, Manhattan; brother, Dale Barry and wife, Gloria, El Paso,Texas; sisters, Phyllis Wolfe, Dodge City, and Marilyn Pachta and husband, Jim, Linn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Don Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery.
