Clifton-Clyde team members celebrate after winning the sub-state championship game over Osborne in come-from-behind fashion.

The Clifton-Clyde boys were on the doorstep to a state basketball tournament berth on Saturday in Lincoln, but they saw a familiar foe in their way. Clifton-Clyde was facing off against Osborne, the team that stopped them from qualifying for the 8-man Division 1 state championship game last fall by the narrowest of margins (Osborne went on to win the state football title.) Osborne got off to a quick lead in the game. They went up 15-9 after the fi rst quarter. The Eagles picked up the scoring pace in the second quarter, but Osborne wasn’t letting up, matching Clifton-Clyde’s 14 points to hold onto a 29-23 lead at half.
