J o A n n J o h a n n e s , 83, Hanover, d i e d Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Bryan M e m o r i a l H o s p i t a l in Lincoln,
Neb. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, at New Town, Mo. to Clarence A. and Dorothy D. (Harper) Swearingen. For many years she worked as a certified geriatric aide at the State Hospital in Beatrice, Neb. She had also worked as a machine operator at Intercity Manufacturing in St. Louis, Mo. After moving to Hanover in 1996, she worked as a waitress and cook at the Barnes Café. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Bill Swearingen, Jack Swearingen and Art Swearingen. Survivors include her son Donald C. Johannes and wife, Jacque, Cabot, Ark.; three brothers, John Swearingen, Muncie, Ind., Mick Swearingen and wife, Alice, Waterville, Ronnie Swearingen and wife, Charlotte, Hanover; three sisters, Sharon Shepherd, Las Vegas, Nev., Sandy Herrimann, Hanover, Mildred Hearn and husband, Bob, Waterville; three grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 27 at Terry-Christie Funeral Home, Waterville. Music was provided by organist Lois Andersen. Casket bearers were Christopher Johannes, Joshua Johannes, , Rodney Swearingen, Jason Swearingen, Colby Hearn, Ron Swearingen. Burial was at Maplewood
Cemetery, west of Barnes. Memorials are suggested to either the American Cancer Society — for Leukemia Research or the Park Hill Christian Church of North Little Rock, Ark.
